Days in the Dirt

When you realize your worth,

You won’t accept anything less than the earth.

I have spent so many of my days in the dirt.

Years on end, still wiping the stains off my shirt.

But those days in the dirt taught me all that I needed to know,

Like how to water, how to sew, and how to grow.

When the sun is shining, there is no need for faux,

Darling, because those are just for show.

But you, honey, are the real thing,

A beautiful rose ready for blooming,

Even when it feels like a storm is in the looming.

Trust that you have a destiny, despite the pruning,

Because you are a beautiful flower undoing.
